- Canadian Federal Government Departments, Agencies and Crown Corporations: A comprehensive list that provides direct links to the primary Web sites of Canadian government departments, agencies and Crown corporations, as well as links to Web sites maintained by organizations for which various departments and agencies are responsible.
- Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance: The site provides upwards to 1,400 distinct programs, and offers details on who may apply, amount of funds and average awards, contacts, rules and regulations. It also is a great method to collecting "key words" or descriptors used to access similar funding sources at the state and local level or through private foundations.
- Commerce Business Daily: This is a much less usual "classified ads" publication of the US government. Not recommended to subscribe to and full of request for bids from businesses as opposed to research and training grants. Some small contracts are also listed and it is a source you may wish to surf only occasionally.
- Council on Foundations: This is a membership organization of more than 2,000 grantmaking foundations and giving programs worldwide. They provide leadership expertise, legal services and networking opportunities among other services to members and to the general public.
- Federal Register: This is the legal newspaper for the federal government. Used by the feds to make a public record of changes in programs, it contains very little new grant listings. Most helpful for researching a rule change, but calling the agency is most likely faster and easier.
- FedWorld Information Network: The one-stop shopping center for information on most of the federal programs with direct links to hundreds of federal agencies. More and more participants are being added almost daily.
- Foundation Center: This is the single best collector of library materials, support services, and publications for groups and individuals involved in the area of grant writing in general, and foundation funding in particular.
- National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA): NCURA serves its members and advances the field of research administration through education and professional development programs, the sharing of knowledge and experience, and by fostering a professional, collegial, and respected community.
- National Endowment for the Arts: The NEA is a public agency dedicated to supporting excellence in the arts, both new and established; bringing the arts to all Americans; and providing leadership in arts education. Established by Congress in 1965 as an independent agency of the federal government, the Endowment is the nation's largest annual funder of the arts, bringing art to all 50 states, including rural areas, inner cities, and military bases.
- National Endowment for the Humanities: The NEH is an independent grant-making agency of the United States government dedicated to supporting research, education, preservation, and public programs in the humanities.
- FirstGov Nonprofit Gateway: The U. S. Government's official web portal linking to up-to-date agency-specific nonprofit resources, fundraising and outreach, grants, loans and other assistance, laws and regulations, management and operations, online services, registration and licensing, and tax information
- GuideStar: The National Database of Nonprofit Organizations: Provides details about thousands non-profits, plus about a half million other groups loosely classified as charities. Here you'll find plenty of joint venture possibilities, as well as a chance to operate the good-old-blank network for brainstorming and sources.
- National Institutes of Health: Grants and Funding Opportunities: Grant news, applications, grants policy, NIH Guide, award data, eRA Commons, research training, research contracts, loan repayment programs, and small business research programs.
- National Science Foundation: Funding Opportunities: The NSF funds research and education in most fields of science and engineering. It does this through grants, and cooperative agreements to more than 2,000 colleges, universities, K-12 school systems, businesses, informal science organizations and other research organizations throughout the United States. The Foundation accounts for about one-fourth of federal support to academic institutions for basic research.
- Society of Research Administrators: Founded in 1967, the Society of Research Administrators International is a nonprofit association dedicated to the education and the professional development of research administrators, as well as the enhancement of public understanding of the importance of research and its administration. Its grants section includes detailed information on government funding resources, general research administrator resources, private funding, policy and regulations, and SRA international foundations.
- U. S. Department of Education: Grants and Contracts: The U.S. Department of Education (ED) is providing nearly $38 billion this year to states and school districts, primarily through formula-based grant programs, to improve elementary and secondary schools and meet the special needs of students. ED is providing about $2.5 billion to help strengthen teaching and learning in colleges and other postsecondary institutions and $5 billion to support rehabilitation, adult education, research and development, statistics, and assessment.
- U. S. Federal Agency Directory: Originally created by David Wuolu in 1994, the U. S. Federal Agency Directory is a partnership between Louisiana State University and the Federal Depository Library Program. The directory lists current/active/existing U. S. Federal Government agencies as represented in the United States Government Manual. Indentations, which will inform the reader of the institution's place in the hierarchy.
